General car rental terms and conditions

1. Use of the vehicle

While using the car, the driver (Lessee) must treat the rented car with due care, keep it in good order and immediately inform NOVA RENT BGD rent a car (Lessor) of any problems.

The minimum rental period is 1 day (24 hours). A grace period of 59 minutes is allowed. After that, a full day is charged.

Cancellation of a booking up to 14 days before the start of the rental is free of charge.
If the booking is cancelled 13 days or less before the start, we reserve the right to charge 50% of the rental.

2. Unlimited mileage

Unlimited mileage is included in the rental price, except when the car is rented for up to 3 days, in which case mileage is limited to 200 km per day and each extra kilometre is charged at EUR 0.5

3. Deposit and payment

A deposit is mandatory, and its amount depends on the car category and the length of the rental. The deposit and the rental payment can be made in cash or by credit card (Visa, American Express, Mastercard and Maestro). All payments are made in Serbian dinars at the start of the rental!

Tax (VAT) on the car rental service is included in the rental price.

4. Driver

The Lessee must be at least 23 years old and have held a valid driving licence for at least 2 years (the same applies to the second driver). Adding a second driver is free of charge.

5. Insurance

The rental price includes third-party liability insurance up to the amount set by the compulsory insurance policy.

5.1 Insurance for damage to the rented car

The collision damage waiver (“CDW” and “Super CDW”) is included in the published rental price. The insurance is valid only with a mandatory police report.

The insurance company will not pay for damage if the driver was driving the rented car under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

This insurance does not cover damage to tyres and rims or damage to the interior of the car caused by the Lessee’s carelessness or negligence.

An excess is MANDATORY and, depending on the type of car, amounts to the first EUR 100 or 200, or 10%. The excess applies only to damage caused by the person driving our car (the Lessee) or by an unknown person (damage found in a car park, etc.).

5.2 Theft insurance for the rented car

The theft protection waiver (“TP” and “Super TP”) is included in the published rental price. The insurance is valid only if the theft is reported to the police and provided that the Lessee has kept the documents and the key of the car, which must be handed over to the Lessor.

5.3 General insurance provision

In all cases not covered by the above insurance, or which the insurance company refuses to compensate, the Lessee must pay the Lessor 100% of the damage.

6. Crossing the border

Crossing the border is free of charge to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and North Macedonia. Crossing into any other country is allowed only with the approval of the Nova Rent dispatcher and is charged EUR 35!

7. Cleanliness of the vehicle

The Lessee must return the car clean, i.e. in the same condition in which it was picked up. If the Lessee is unable to wash the car just before returning it to the Lessor, they can pay for washing in the amount of EUR 10.

An example that Nova Rent does not accept: the Lessee (client) washes the car on the day of return or the day before, but the car gets dirty on the way to the return location. In these and similar cases, the Lessee (client) must pay for washing in the amount of EUR 10.

8. Fuel

Fuel is not included in the rental price, and all fuel used is paid for by the Lessee (client). Nova Rent’s policy is to hand over cars with a full tank and for the client to return the car with a full tank. Refuelling must be done close to the Airport/New Belgrade (within 10 kilometres).

An example that Nova Rent does not accept: on the day of return, the Lessee (client) sets off from another city (e.g. Požarevac, Valjevo, Užice etc.) and refuels there for the last time. They arrive at the return location with a fuel gauge showing that the tank is full or slightly below full. In such cases, the Lessee (client) must pay for the missing fuel as instructed by the Nova Rent dispatcher.
